Description
Children will love exploring the layers of the ocean and all of the exciting life within them as they put together this beautiful puzzle!
In addition to allowing children to develop their geographical, botanical, and zoological knowledge, this work will help them continue to develop and refine their fine motor skills, spatial understanding, concentration, and sense of order.
This material includes:
- Wooden puzzle base
- 5 wooden puzzle inserts
- Wooden labels
- Wooden plant and animal images in each zone
- Control chart
Children will be drawn to the vibrant colors of the puzzle pieces and the plant and animal wooden images. They will also be intrigued by the varying sizes and shapes of the puzzle pieces and the varying thicknesses of the zones.
Self-correcting indicators include the size of each puzzle piece and the control chart.
Variations: Arrange the puzzle pieces out of order when removing them.
Extensions: Create a felt version of the Zones of the Ocean. Trace the layers on a sheet of paper and label each zone. Research one or more of the layers and create a presentation. Take an imaginary trip to the zones of the ocean and write about the voyage including the plants and animals seen there!
